Jen Grace - Irish Snowboarder
descenders
Award-winning Director, Producer, Writer

Welcome to the website of snowboarder turned filmmaker, Jen Grace. Jen was the first snowboarder to represent Ireland on the international circuit. She spent five years on the FIS world cup tour and raced in three World Championships. Now in her fourth year of Montana State University's Science and Natural History Filmmaking Master's program, she feels she's found her calling. Like her, this site is under transition....

Soul Dog. Now in Post-Production
Dogs roles in America are changing. The more they become like family, the harder it is to treat them like animals. This documentary is about the four-year-long degenerative paralysis of my soul dog, Juno. It also follows my struggle over convictions about dominion and custodianship; life and death. This journey led me into the hearts and home of others coping with similar issues.

My sincere gratitude goes to:
Sara Shier, editor
Roger O'Donnell, composer
And everyone who has allowed me to share their stories

07/19/09: Sarah in The Labyrinth
Day one in L.A. The Jim Henson Company. It is surreal to be mentoring within the company that inspired so much of my childhood imagination: the Muppets, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock and yes, Labyrinth. And whose legacy informs my creativity, humor and inspiration to this very day. Is this all in Sarah's dream? Am I in fact living the labyrinth?

I'm lost in the goblin city, surrounded by a maze of concrete- Endless walls of businesses that deceive. There are people who, like the Fieries, will offer you a good time but lead you astray. There are degenerates and kings that hide behind false ego. Things are not as they seem. And there is me, unsure of my quest and direction but learning my strength. And just like Sarah, I am trying to find true friends.

My contemporary ballet, Faith began as an ode to the grandiose music of The Cure and an encounter with a lightning storm. In the end it came to represent the fear of starting a new creative project, the support I got along the way and how with support an artist can really take off. Its title comes from the Margaret Shepherd quote, "Sometimes your only available transportation is a leap of faith." Its title is also a tribute to the Cure album of the same name.
