05/01/10: The First Day Multimedia Ballet
In collaboration with multiple Grammy-nominated musician, Patrick Leonard and student Emmy winning filmmaker, Jennifer Grace, the Montana Ballet Company presents The First Day. It is an original contemporary multimedia ballet that portrays the riveting transformation of an imprisoned woman who has just learned the date of her execution. Leonard wrote The First Day with his daughter Jessica. MBC's co-artistic director Amy Lynn Stoddart interpreted the story and music as a ballet.

The First Day will have its world premiere at Bozeman's Emerson Cultural Center on May 14, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.Following the dance performance, Patrick Leonard and Jeni Fleming will take the audience on a multi-sensory journey of the legendary producer's musical career including a unique rendition of Pink Floyd's seminal album, Dark Side of the Moon.

Over the last 30 years, Patrick Leonard has helped shape the popular music through his work with Elton John, Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson, Madonna and other top hit-makers. His collaborations with Madonna; True Blue, Like A Prayer, Ray Of Light and others have sold over 140 million copies. After countless multi-platinum records and several Grammy nominations, he continues to redefine many styles of music. Most recently he has re-scored classic dances for the Martha Graham company. It is testament to the outstanding artistic talent residing in Bozeman that such an innovative project is being developed here with the Montana Ballet Company!
