The Olympic race is on!

The first World Cup/ Olympic qualifier of the year took place on October 7, 05 at Snowworld, Holland.

Yes, Holland, the flat snowless country I came to find out has 5 indoor ski arenas. And, other than the feeling of riding in a meat locker, they are a great controlled training and racing venue.

My Slalom riding has really been coming along in this training block, giving me lots of confidence. I even did a really good job of getting the right "race face" (Or, racing mental state). Which has been really problematic for me in the past.

As for my race run, I did not make it to finals but got surprisingly close. It was a 23 gate, flat slalom. This meant that I needed to ride completely clean (ie carve every turn perfectly) and make no mistakes. I did that for the most part but lost probably 2 seconds in one fatal mistake. In the end, I was less than 3 seconds off the top woman. Three years ago, it was closer to 10! So, leaps and strides for Jenny!

When I get this whole blog figured out, I'll add some photos. In the meantime, you can see some of the race at SnowWorld.
